Seychelles
Mahé Island
Mahé is the largest island and the main hub of the Seychelles. It is home to the international airport and the capital city, Victoria.
Highlights: The capital city of Victoria is one of the world's smallest capital cities, featuring a colorful local market and historic clock tower.
Beaches: Beau Vallon is the most famous and lively beach, offering water sports, restaurants, and a weekly market. Anse Intendance is a wild, beautiful beach on the south coast.
Nature: The mountainous interior is dominated by the Morne Seychellois National Park, which offers excellent hiking trails through lush tropical forests.
Praslin Island
The second-largest island, Praslin is famous for its natural reserves and some of the world's most beautiful beaches.
Highlights: Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is often called the "Garden of Eden." It is the only place in the world where the giant Coco de Mer palm tree grows naturally.
Beaches: Anse Lazio is frequently ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world, known for its pristine white sand, turquoise water, and signature granite boulders.
Island Hopping Hub: Praslin is a great base for day trips to smaller islands like Curieuse Island (home to free-roaming Aldabra giant tortoises).
La Digue Island
La Digue is the third most-visited island and offers a wonderfully relaxed, slow-paced atmosphere, where bicycles are the primary mode of transportation.
Highlights: Anse Source d'Argent is the most photographed beach in the world, instantly recognizable for its dramatic, smooth granite boulders that frame the soft, pink-hued sand and calm, shallow water.
Atmosphere: The island retains a charming, old-world feel. Visitors typically rent bicycles to explore the coastline and interior at their own pace.
Beaches: Beyond Anse Source d'Argent, you can hike to the beautiful, secluded trio of Grand Anse, Petite Anse, and Anse Cocos.
The Outer Islands (Private & Remote)
For the ultimate luxury or nature experience, the outer coral islands offer unparalleled seclusion and diving.
Examples: Fregate Island, North Island, and Silhouette Island host exclusive resorts and are often private marine sanctuaries.
Highlights: These remote coral atolls offer incredible snorkeling and diving with untouched coral reefs, and they are important nesting sites for sea turtles.
Bird Island: Famous for its huge colonies of nesting seabirds, particularly the Sooty Terns, making it a birdwatcher's paradise.
