Livingstone and Victoria Falls

This is often the gateway to Zambia and the heart of its adventure tourism. Livingstone is the town bordering Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Highlights: The falls, known locally as "Mosi-oa-Tunya" (The Smoke That Thunders), are a breathtaking sight. The Zambian side offers unique views, including the famous Knife-Edge Bridge.

Activities: Devil's Pool and Angel's Pool offer the unique experience of swimming in natural rock pools right at the edge of Victoria Falls. These activities are seasonal and depend on the water levels. For adrenaline seekers, there are thrilling adventures such as white-water rafting on the Zambezi River, bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge, and helicopter tours—known as the Flight of Angels—over the falls.

Best Time to Visit: April to June for the highest water volume; September to November for the lowest water levels and the best adrenaline activities.

The Luangwa Valley (South & North Luangwa National Parks)

The Luangwa Valley is considered one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries and is a staple of Zambian safari.

South Luangwa National Park: The most popular and well-developed park in the region, known for its high concentration of wildlife, especially leopards and hippos. It is universally recognized as the birthplace of the walking safari, allowing you to get up close to the bush environment with an expert guide.

North Luangwa National Park: A more remote and exclusive experience. Safaris here are often conducted entirely on foot, providing an intimate, old-school safari feel. It is one of the few places in Zambia where black rhinos were successfully reintroduced.

Best Time to Visit: The dry season, from July to October, is prime time for game viewing as water is scarce and animals congregate around the Luangwa River and its lagoons.

Lower Zambezi National Park

Located along the mighty Zambezi River, this park is famous for its combination of land and water-based activities, offering superb game viewing in a spectacular setting.

Highlights: The Zambezi River itself is the main draw. The park boasts an abundance of elephants, lions, and an immense number of hippos and crocodiles.

Unique Activity: Canoe safaris on the Zambezi are a signature experience, allowing you to quietly drift past wildlife on the riverbanks. Boat safaris and excellent fishing are also popular.

As one of Africa's largest national parks, Kafue covers a vast area with varied landscapes, yet remains largely unexplored by tourists.

Highlights: The Busanga Plains in the north are a key seasonal feature, attracting a huge array of wildlife, including unique antelope species like the red lechwe, cheetahs, and the famous Kafue lions.

Best Time to Visit: The dry season (July to October) is the best time, particularly for accessing the remote Busanga Plains.
